Unit 4 Blog

For the last portion of this final semester was a bit of a hectic and confusing one, but everything, for the most part, seemed to work out smoother than what I imagine most people thought would be. At the beginning of this whole change caused from the virus, I was a bit skeptical on how certain classes would be able to continue without losing a lot of important material within the courses. Although it did seem near impossible, I was quite surprised on how smoothly it went for the most part. I think that after all of this mess occurred, many people started to realize the effects it would have on their, mental health, physical health, and educational opportunities much more than before. At first, I was pretty bummed that I would not be able to go out and see the people I haven't been able to catch up with which was kind of upsetting. A lot of people, including myself, started to realize how much we all took being able to freely see someone for granted. One specific issue my family and I had to deal with was rarely being able to see or make contact with my grandpa, my mom's father. He has been living alone for the past year and a half and with such a sudden, dramatic change, it has been difficult to be able to make much contact with him. I have also noticed, through this, that people have been taking advantage of all of the extra time that is forced upon us. Some of the way I have along with others is doing things I wouldn't normally do like going on walks with my family and spending more time with them,  cooking a lot more food for myself than I have in the past, and some others that have not only been things to do because I'm bored, but a pretty significant learning experience as well. As time continues to move forward, it seems that it is difficult to tell how long this strange change will continue to drag on. With something that almost came out of nowhere at a very fast pace, it is difficult for everyone to work together in an organized manner to shorten the length of a quarantine because of how dramatic of a turn this all was and still is. As for the schools all around the world, I am hoping that me and all others attending college will be able to return back to the norm when the fall semester comes around. Unfortunately, as of right now, it is not looking so bright for that to be an option, but we can only hope for the best. With all of these schools and even other organizations having to close down, I can see that there are definitely going to be issues in the ways people go about learning and continuing to move forward in their academic career. Schools will obviously also have big issues regarding money and not being able to make what they need to in order to keep operating smoothly. Overall, I was not expecting anything like this to happen and it is something that I never imagined would go this far. As it goes for making this catastrophe end, everyone just needs to work together and listen to the safety precautions in order to keep it from going any further and longer.
